A former townhall, jail and highland dance studio – Blackstairs House has been an establishment in the heart of Wick for over 200 years.You can sense the history of our building around every corner with original elements preserved until this very day.
We see ourselves as custodians of this very special place and have a grand vision for the future of Blackstairs House. We plan to offer unique dining experiences and provide a platform of collaboration for the local community.

Meet your hosts.
Your hosts Chef David Buchanan and partner Kirsty welcome you to Blackstairs House. Having grown up in Pultneytown near Wick, Chef Buchanan has honed his culinary skillset in kitchens across 75+ countries as a private chef for private clients, royal families and celebrities.
So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that we pride ourselves in sourcing the freshest produce, collaborating with local producers and providing you with an authentic dining experience when staying at Blackstairs House or joining our Secret Shebeen Suppercubs.
